Where I Take Out-of-Town Folks to Eat in Spring Branch
When people land in Houston, they usually expect to be guided toward the Heights, Montrose, or Downtown spots. I live in Spring Branch, and over time I’ve realized I rarely need to leave the neighborhood to show someone a great meal.
The Long Point corridor has quietly turned into one of the most diverse and interesting food stretches in the city. Houston’s largest Koreatown runs right through it, and the Vietnamese food scene here is deep enough that you could explore it for months without repeating a dish. That’s not new—it’s been building for decades. What’s changed is that more of Houston is finally paying attention.
As the city expands west and north, Spring Branch is now part of the conversation alongside more established food neighborhoods like the Heights, Montrose, and Rice Village. And honestly, it holds its own.
Below is my current rotation. Some places are longtime staples, others are newer additions, but all of them are spots I confidently take people when they’re visiting.
Korea Garden
Cuisine: Korean BBQ
Best for: Group dinners, special occasions, introducing someone to classic Spring Branch Korean BBQ
Address: 9501 Long Point Rd, Houston, TX 77055

Long Point and Blalock has had this place on the map for decades. I remember it being packed back in the early ‘90s, and it still carries that same energy today.
Korea Garden remains one of the most reliable Korean BBQ experiences in Houston. It doesn’t rely on trends or gimmicks—just solid execution and consistency. The banchan selection is generous, the meat quality is dependable, and the experience is built for sharing at the table.
Expect a wait on weekends, especially during peak dinner hours. My usual lineup includes galbi, bulgogi, and occasionally spicy pork. The whole experience is about building bites with lettuce wraps and side dishes, which is exactly why people keep coming back.
Pho Luc Lac
Cuisine: Vietnamese
Best for: Casual lunches, comfort food, no-frills pho cravings
Address: 9457 Kempwood Dr, Houston, TX 77080
Google Maps: Click here for the link
This is my go-to Vietnamese spot in the neighborhood.
The broth here stands out because it’s clean, balanced, and not overloaded with salt or sugar—something surprisingly rare. The menu has enough depth to keep things interesting, but I usually stick to my standard order: spring rolls and a classic beef pho.
It’s the kind of place where the food speaks for itself. No scene, no hype—just consistently good bowls of pho served in a straightforward, neighborhood setting.
Las Tortas Perronas
Cuisine: Mexican tortas
Best for: Big lunch cravings, takeout, bold street food flavors
Address: 1837 Bingle Rd, Suite A, Houston, TX 77055
Google Maps: Click here for the link
This spot sits in a simple strip center, but it’s one of those places that defines the local food identity of the area.
Tortas, originally from Mexico City street vendors, are packed sandwiches built on bolillo-style bread. They’re heavy, flavorful, and meant to be unapologetically messy.
Spring Branch used to be far more heavily Hispanic, and while the neighborhood has changed a lot, places like this still carry that original character forward.
My usual order is the Ingrata—loaded with ham, chorizo, and cheese. It’s not a light meal, but it absolutely delivers when you want something filling and direct.
Chavez Mexican Cafe
Cuisine: Tex-Mex
Best for: Family dinners, casual nights out, margaritas that sneak up on you
Address: 2557 Gessner Rd, Suite E, Houston, TX 77080
Google Maps: Click here for the link
This is a consistent family favorite and one of the most reliable Tex-Mex spots in Spring Branch.
Chavez Mexican Cafe has been around long enough to build a loyal following, and it shows in both the service and the food. It’s not trying to be the most upscale Tex-Mex in Houston—it just focuses on doing the basics well and keeping things affordable.
The green salsa is the standout for me, and the margaritas deserve a warning label in the best way possible.
Feges BBQ
Address: 8217 Long Point Rd, Houston, TX 77055
Cuisine: Modern Texas BBQ
Best for: Elevated BBQ, family dinners, introducing visitors to Houston barbecue
Google Maps: Click here for the link
Feges BBQ brings a different approach to the traditional Texas BBQ scene.
The meats are strong, but what really sets this place apart are the sides and creative menu items. You’ll find things like Thai-inspired wings and more modern interpretations of classic BBQ plates.
The Feges bowl and Brussels sprouts are regular orders for me. It’s also one of the most family-friendly BBQ spots in the area, especially on their kids-eat-free nights.
Murray’s Pizza & Wine
Address: 9655 Katy Fwy, Suite 3110, Houston, TX 77024 (Memorial City)
Cuisine: Pizza, small plates, natural wine
Best for: Date nights, patios, relaxed evenings with good food and drinks
Google Maps: Click here for the link
One of the newer additions to this list, and one that quickly became a repeat visit.
The focus here is on thoughtfully made pizza with long fermentation dough and simple, high-quality toppings. The menu is intentionally tight, which helps them execute everything well.
What really elevates Murray’s is the full experience—good cocktails, a strong patio setup, and a relaxed but polished vibe. The frozen negroni is especially good on hot Houston days.
Cambrian Coffee
Address: 9461 Hammerly Blvd E, Houston, TX 77055
Cuisine: Coffee, British pastries
Best for: Morning coffee, working sessions, quiet meetups
Google Maps: Click here for the link
Cambrian Coffee feels like a true neighborhood coffee shop in every sense.
Run by Brian and Gemma, it blends specialty coffee with a bit of personality—fossils, geology references, and a relaxed atmosphere that makes it easy to stay longer than planned.
The coffee program is consistently well dialed in, and the flat white is my usual order. There’s also a strong community feel here, especially given how the neighborhood rallied after an accident damaged the shop a few years ago.
That kind of response says a lot about how deeply this place is tied to Spring Branch.
Final Thoughts
This is the current rotation I use when people visit, and it changes slightly over time, but not drastically. Spring Branch has reached a point where you can genuinely plan meals around the neighborhood without needing to cross the city.
There are still plenty of other spots worth mentioning, but these are the ones I consistently return to and confidently recommend.
Here’s a Google List of all my recommendations.
